I focus on the relationship between you and your dog. I come to your home, work with your family and your dog, and custom design a training program to help you have the polite, obedient, well-mannered dog you’ve always wanted. Every dog is unique. But regardless of age, breed, background, temperament, drive, or personality – any dog can be trained!

Fran’s experience encompasses nearly 7,000 dogs, and training in Obedience, Sheep Herding, Pet Therapy, Air Scent Search, Rescue Dogs, Detection Dogs, Agility, Tracking, Service dogs for the disabled, and Schutzhund. Combined with over 35 years of competition experience and over 45 AKC, UKC, SV, and Delta Society, Search and Rescue titles on her own dogs, Fran is the most experienced dog trainer in the Wood River Valley. She is currently the President of NADOI, the National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors.

Training Philosophy

The most important thing I have learned over the years in dog training is that all dogs have 5 basic types of “drive”. Understanding “drive” and knowing what drives your dog has, will direct us in our training methodology. Understanding how to evaluate each and every dog, will help us determine what is the most effective means of training for that individual dog. Understanding you, the human partner is the other part of that equation. Being able to apply that understanding to the individual dog and their owner is the ART of dog training and instruction.
